The grapes come from a small, 6.85-hectare, low-yielding vineyard situated at an altitude of 685 metres on the slopes of the Andes Mountains on a small terrace of the River Clarillo, a tributary of the River Maipo that starts high in the Andes. This area is in the municipality of Pirque in the part of the Maipo Valley referred to as Maipo Alto, which is world renowned for its ideal climate for producing red wines.

Cabernet Sauvignon reveals the character of Maipo’s terroir, albeit with slight nuances. This is a delicate and expressive wine. On the nose, herbal and spicy notes like cedar, graphite and tobacco are underpinned by a background featuring the characteristic varietal notes of red and black fruit, along with subtle aromas of toast and fine vanilla from the barrel-ageing lend the wine complexity. In the mouth it is medium-bodied with a very veritical struture and a long finish. It features a fine and elegant tannic structure as well as freshness, and is characterized by faithfully expressing its origin.

Origen
The grapes come from two vineyards. The Cauquenes vineyard is 20km north-east of the town of Cauquenes in a warm part of the Maule Valley. The vines are bush-trained in the old system and are around 75 years old. The Loncomilla vineyard, meanwhile, is located in Melozal, 60km east of Cauquenes, which is cooler than the area where the Cauquenes vineyard is situated. These are also old vines – around 64 years old.

The Cabernet Franc grapes were sourced from a selected vineyard planted exclusively for this range in the area of Catemito, on the third alluvial terrace of the Maipo River. This alluvial terrace was formed in the Holocene period, around 10,000 years ago. The soil has a mixed sandy-clay texture and a high gravel content, which results in good drainage and subsequently in balanced vigour and yield in the vineyard.
