SUSTAINABILITY

MISSION
We are a winery focused on making and producing high-quality, authentic, and consistent wines with character. We seek to express the identity and quality of our vineyards in each and every one of our ranges. Our strategic themes are tradition, innovation, and sustainability and we are becoming ever more aware of the importance of caring more actively for the environment and our community.
VISION
We draw strength from our 138-year history while always looking to the future and staying abreast of new trends so that we can meet consumers’ changing needs. We are not afraid to challenge the status quo and explore the unknown.
Now more than ever, with future generations in mind, we reaffirm our commitment to continue contributing to caring for our environment and combatting climate change.

Wines of Chile Sustainability Code
At Viña Undurraga, we believe that sustainability is not a goal, but a way of doing things. That’s why, since 2016, we have been part of the Chilean wine industry’s Sustainability Code, a voluntary certification that promotes responsible practices in three key areas: vineyard (green), winery and bottling (red), and social responsibility (orange).
This commitment is renewed every two years through an external audit. In the most recent version, conducted in 2023, we achieved 96.1% compliance, proudly exceeding the new minimum standard of 95%.
But we don’t stop there. In 2023, we also began the certification process for the purple area, which evaluates the sustainable management of wine tourism. This new dimension is assessed independently and requires a 65% minimum as a baseline for this first stage. The result: 90% compliance, a reflection of the serious and committed work of our entire team.
We continue to move forward with determination, bringing sustainability from the vineyard to your glass, and now, to every wine tourism experience we share together.

Waste managmente program
We have a waste management program that allowed us to recycle up to 91% by 2023.
YEAR | RECYCLING INDEX |
2019 | 85% |
2020 | 93% |
2021 | 74% |
2022 | 79% |
2023 | 91% |
2024 | 94% |

SOLAR PANELS
At Viña Undurraga, we are committed to efficient, safe, and renewable energy. That’s why we currently operate a photovoltaic plant in Santa Ana, Talagante, which generates 955 KW/year, covering 28.9% of our energy needs.
We also have solar panels installed in our vineyards in Cauquenes and Leyda.

GHG verification according to ISO 14064–3:2019
At Viña Undurraga, we are moving forward with determination in our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, working year after year toward an increasingly cleaner and more sustainable operation.
Today, we are proud to share the progress we’ve made, as reflected in our 2024 Carbon Footprint Report.
Since our baseline year of 2022, we have achieved a cumulative reduction of 26.2% in our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, going from 24,322 tCO₂e in 2022, to 19,108 tCO₂e in 2023, and reaching 17,958 tCO₂e in 2024.
Key Achievements in 2024:
Ongoing year-over-year reduction: A 21% drop in 2023, followed by a deeper reduction in 2024, reaching a 26.2% cumulative decrease.
51% of our energy now comes from non-conventional renewable sources (NCRE) such as photovoltaic panels, strengthening our energy transition.
Optimization in transport and packaging, two of our main impact areas, resulting in significant improvements.
Certifications and independent verification under international standards: ISO 14064:2018, GHG Protocol, and alignment with the rigorous standards of IWCA (International Wineries for Climate Action).
IWCA Member

International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA) is a non-profit collaborative working group of environmentally committed wineries taking a science-based approach to reducing carbon emissions across the wine industry.
In 2024, Viña Undurraga was approved by the IWCA Board and updated its status to IWCA GOLD MEMBER.
Climate change is one of the most urgent challenges we face as a winery. Addressing this crisis requires more than commitments and promises: it takes measurable action. As Viña Undurraga we are proud to be part of IWCA, a movement for climate action in wine.
Viña Undurraga committed to Fundación Reforestemos
Fundación Reforestemos carries out the largest and most extensive reforestation campaign in the history of Chile, with projects in 11 regions, 56 communes and 3 countries. Fundación Reforestemos restores, protects, and promotes the reforestation of degraded ecosystems, recovering high ecological value areas such as national parks and reserves and generating a culture of awareness of the importance of native trees.
As Viña Undurraga we mark our commitment to the Fundación Reforestemos, and it has been 8 years since we have been the official winery in which we have been contributing to this great campaign. Our contribution contemplates a direct monetary contribution to the foundation in relation to the sales of Aliwen bottles around the world.
